Meditation Moxie

We hear a lot about meditation and mindfulness these days.  Have you ever wondered about meditation and whether or not you can "do" meditation?  Do you think that you would never be able to clear your head or not think?  Well you don't have to!

Meditation is the process of becoming focused.  It is about retraining the mind to think about one thing at a time. It is about feeling.  With phones beeping, pinging or singing at us all the time, we rarely focus on one thing for long anymore.  So "being focused" is becoming a skill - one that we all used to have. 

Mindfulness, a popular form of meditation, is the act of paying attention to whatever it is you are doing - on purpose.  Instead of going through the motions and not really participating in the activity at all, it is being fully present so that you can - experience - the moment.  Sounds easy doesn't it.  

The most common mindfulness practice is to focus on the breath.  Watch the breath with awareness coming in through the nostrils and filling the belly on the inhalation, and then watching the breath return to the atmosphere and feeling the body return to center on the exhale.  This, too, sounds easy doesn't it.

Moxie is the courage and determination to try something new.   We all have the ability to "do" meditation.  We just need to commit a little bit of our time to something that will help us live our lives better!.

Simple - Yes; easy - Maybe Not.  

Try mindfulness meditation.  Set aside just a few minutes each day and see what comes to life for you.  Or join us for one of our meditation classes.  Meditation Moxie is on Tuesdays, iRest is on Fridays, and some of our yoga classes end with meditation.
