Hi.
My name is Vicki and like a lot of people I started a yoga practice for the physical fitness benefits, but I stayed with it for so so many other reasons.
After being an “on again-off again” yogi for many years, I started a regular practice in earnest in 2002 because I was working “crazy hours” and I wanted a way to wind down and find more balance in my life. In 2010, I took a yoga teacher training course to help me “do yoga right.” I didn't want to hurt myself. And, through the year long 200-hour teacher training program, my friends let me practice with them, then we started a group that spread and I fell head long in love with teaching yoga and meditation. I've been teaching ever since.
Learning about yoga is a life-long pursuit. But in my journey so far, I am a 500-hour Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT-500) with a yoga therapy emphasis, a Certified Integrated Restoration (iRest®) meditation Teacher, a Stephen’s Minister and a Level II Reiki practitioner. I have advanced training in teaching yoga and meditation for depression and aging populations. I also have advanced training for teaching yoga and meditation to people who experienced trauma and are dealing with PTSD (through Warriors at Ease).
I was fortunate in that my 500-hour program (which took 2.5 years to complete) allowed me the privilege to study with a variety of exemplary teachers focusing on the therapeutic and healing benefits of yoga and meditation including Amy Weintraub, Rodney Yee, Stephanie Lopez, Robin Carnes, Ray Long, and Doug Keller to name a few. I also have tremendous respect for Donna Farhi and her guidance regarding yoga ethics. Her inspiration is contagious. Jack Kornfield is a wonderful meditation and Buddhist teacher who presents concepts in fun and whimsical ways. And, Tara Brach provides a wealth of knowledge and compassion in her teachings. I encourage you to seek out their work.
I am passionate about helping you experience the healing benefits of yoga and meditation. My classes offer you a chance to explore and play and to experience yourself in a new way, all while you are building strength, confidence, new understanding and grace. Experience health and well-being in a whole new way.
I would love to meet you wherever you are in your life's journey. Stop by and say hello. ❤
Warmly,
Vicki
