Blue Horizons Wellness had the honor of attending the D-Day Plus 73 event at the LST 393 in Muskegon this past Saturday. During the day we were able to provide information on how yoga and meditation can help with PTSD and other trauma to many interested people. It was a very moving experience when the Michigan Viet Nam Veteran’s Memorial came onto the D-Day Plus 73 event grounds escorted by Rolling Thunder, Knights of Columbus and many others. Our booth was set up in the best place ever, right between the Marines and Rolling Thunder.
The LST was decked out with American Flags and surrounded by American, German, French, Scottish and other reenactors and their gear. An Abrams M-1 tank and a restored PBR gun boat were on hand too! The day included a re-enactment of a WWII ground battle between the German, American and other forces and an air attack on the LST 393. Thousands of rounds were fired between the two battles, but no injuries were reported. At the end of a lovely day, there was one last fly over and the colors were retired with the help of our veterans and the US Navy Sea Scouts. What a great day!! As the announcer said, “We are not here to celebrate war, but to honor the sacrifices of so many men and women who risk their lives for us. It is an opportunity for us to be reminded, so we don’t forget those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom through so many conflicts over the years.” We hope to see all of you out there next year! Many thanks to Rolling Thunder MI Chap. 4, LST 393 and all the other sponsors for putting on this great event! Here are some photographs, we hope you enjoy them.
