Ashtanga refers to the “eight-limbs” of yoga as developed by K. Pattabhi Jois. (More on that in future posts).
The Ashtanga asana practice is dynamic and physically demanding. This vinyasa practice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat, which purifies the body. Ashtanga yoga is a wonderful practice for building core strength and toning the body. The entire set of asanas (poses) is broken down into three series. Melissa will guide you through a modified version of the Primary Series (set of poses). Join Melissa today at 5:30 pm for an exhilarating moving meditation. |
